@lorro: It makes more sense to define that in your default template than it would to set it in the AppController.

why would you set variables in your view? Isn't that supposed to be done in the controller?

Errata - make sure you echo out the elements when you capture them and also you can capture any content between the capture and contentFor not just elements. Should have really said that sorry guys... might have missed the main point haha.
